Other Interests - Computers

Since I was a kid with my first Apple IIe, I've been very interested in computers. From a very early age I learned of the gaming capabilities - Joust, Oregon Trail, Sea Dragon and others. When I eventually outgrew the Apple, I moved on to a Packard Bell 386sx , which I eventually began to upgrade (well, I had no cars/trucks back then!). Since then, I've gone through a 486 and a plethora of Pentium-based computers.

My computer desk is a comfortable place for me, where I have what I need within reach. Whether I'm surfing the 'Net, or working from home I have to be comfortable with the surroundings. Conveniently, I can also watch my TV from the desk, so I'm pretty comfy ;) Here is my working space:

My existing setup is as follows:

  • Asus P5KC Motherboard, Core2Duo E6750 (2.66GHz) with 4GB of PC6400 RAM (getting ready to overclock)
  • Western Digital 300GB STA hard drive (7200rpm), Homemade external drive & LG DL DVD Writer
  • Video through NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT with 512MB RAM and NEC 1712
  • Sound through SB Live! and an Altec Lansing 2.1 setup
  • Aspire X-Cruiser Case (gauges on front for Fan Speed, Temp, and VU) and an Aspire 450 Watt power supply
  • Cooling through 2 x 80mm cooling fans (one chimney fan up top and a second at the front of the hard drives) and 1 x 120mm cooling fan in the rear

I've got some ideas on modifications to come, to increase performance (like overclocking and additional cooling). This box gets the job done and looks sweet, too! ;)
